POSOLOGY AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
Parkinsonism
The initial daily dose is 2 mg, divided into 2 individual doses. The dose is increased gradually up to optimal daily dose, which for most patients is between 3 to 12 mg daily, divided into 3 or 4 individual doses. The maximal daily dose is 16 mg.
Extrapyramidal disease
The usual dosage at adults for control of extrapyramidal reactions related to drug therapy is 2 mg, 1 to 3 times a day.
At spastic conditions, a single dose of 2 mg. 2-3 times daily is given.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
Hypersensitivity to biperiden. Myasthenia gravis. Closed-angle glaucoma. Obstructive gastrointestinal disease. Paralytic ileus or intestinal atony. Reflux oesophagitis. Ulcerative colitis or toxic megacolon. Unstable cardiovascular status in acute hemorrhage. Obstructive uropathy (prostate adenoma). |
