POSOLOGY AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
The medicine is taken after a meal with little water.
- Essential Hypertension

Adults: the initial dose of carvedilol is 12,5 mg once daily (in the morning), or 6,25 mg two times daily (in the morning and in the evening). After 7-14 days of the treatment (even after 2 days), the dose might be increased to 25 mg once daily or 12,5 mg two times daily. If the effects are not satisfied yet, after 14 days the dosage might be increased to 50 mg once daily or 25 mg two times daily.
Elderly patients: it is recommended a dose of 12,5 mg once daily. If necessary the dosage might be increased at most to 25 mg two times daily.
The initial dose of carvedilol is 12,5 mg two times daily, after a meal. If the effects are not satisfied after 7-14 of the treatment, the dosage might be increased to 25 mg two times daily. In case after this dose, the results are not satisfied, and the patient tolerates well the medicine, after 14 days the dosage might be increased to 50 mg two times daily. The total daily dose at chronic angina pectoris should not be higher than 50 mg two times daily. Elderly patients: if the patients are over 70 years of age, the dose should not be higher than 25 mg two times daily.
Before the patient starts taking carvedilol, the doses of digitalis have to be stabilized, as well as the diuretics and the inhibitors of angiotensin convertase (ACE inhibitors) if administered. The medicine should be given only to clinically stable patients. During the medicine introduction and increase of the dose, the patient should be under medical care control. The dosage has to be with gradual titration. It begins with the lowest dose of 3,125 mg two times daily during the 2 weeks period. If the patient well tolerates the medicine, the dose should be gradually increased. The next 2 weeks it is administered a dose of 6,25 mg two times daily. The next 2 weeks it is administered into a dose of 12,5 mg two times daily. The maximum dose is 25 mg two times daily. Only patients that have more than 85 kg bodyweight might receive a higher dose, at a maximum 50 mg two times daily.
It is intended for long-term treatment.

|– Essential hypertension (might be used alone or in a combination with other antihypertensives, especially with thiazide diuretics);
– Angina pectoris;
– Symptomatic congestive heart disease.
Carvedilol might be used as a supplement to the standard therapy, and might be used at patients that are not in a condition to receive ACE inhibitors, digitalis, hydralazine or nitrates.
|Hypersensitivity to carvedilol or to the compound components of the medicine.
IV class of heart decompensation, asthma, a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease with bronchospastic component, clinically manifested liver disease, bradycardia (< 50), cardiac shock, pulmonary heart, pulmonary hypertension, sick sinus syndrome, second or third-degree AV block, and hypotension.
