POSOLOGY AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION


Norfloxacin should be taken on an empty stomach with a small quantity of liquid. Normal diuresis should be maintained during the treatment.

Treatment

4 – 6 weeks or more

Gonohhorea 2 x 400 mg

3 – 14 days

Bacterial gastroenteritis 2 x 400 mg

up to 5 days

Acute infections of the lower urinary tract at men 2 x 400 mg

7 – 14 days

 

Prophylaxis

Recurrent urinary tract infections 1 x 200 mg

Diarrhea during journeys 1 x 400 mg

up to 21 days*

Sepsis at neutropenic patients 2 x 400 mg

up to 8 weeks

*One day before traveling, during the whole time of the traveling and another two days after returning, but no more than 21 days.

Reduced renal function:
The dose of norfloxacin should be reduced if the creatinine clearance is lower than 0,33 ml/s (20 ml/min), or the serum concentration of creatinine is higher than 400 mmol/l (4,5 mg/100ml).
The dose should be reduced to half at patients on hemodialysis that have changes in the diuresis.

Description

COMPOSITION

Each film-coated tablet contains norfloxacin 400 mg.

THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS

-acute cystitis at women;
-relapses of acute cystitis at women;
-acute noncomplicated pyelonephritis at women;
-acute infections of the lower urinary tract at men;
-chronic bacterial prostatitis;
-gonorrhea;
-bacterial gastroenteritis.
Prophylaxis of recurrent urinary tract infections, prophylaxis of diarrhea during journeys and for selective decontamination of the gastrointestinal tract at immunocompromised patients.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Hypersensitivity to norfloxacin, to any other constituent component of the drug or to other quinolone preparations.
Children in the period of growth and adolescents.
